PARIS, June 8 (AFP) - France football captain Marcel Desailly has confirmed his support for Paris to host the 2012 Olympic games, the Paris bid press office announced on Tuesday, denying reports he was considering becoming an ambassador for London's bid.

PARIS, June 8 (AFP) - France football captain Marcel Desailly has confirmed his support for Paris to host the 2012 Olympic games, the Paris bid press office announced on Tuesday, denying reports he was considering becoming an ambassador for London's bid.

Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London's bid, told 5 Live radio station on Monday he jokingly asked Desailly if he would be one of their ambassadors and Desailly said he would consider it.

Desailly, who plays for Chelsea, has already featured in promotional material for London's bid, according to sources in England.

Meanwhile the France football team have signed a charter that they will support Paris' efforts to win the right to host the 2012 event. The team will also wear a logo on their shirts in support of Paris from November 15.

France play England in Lisbon on Sunday in their opening Group B fixture. London, Paris, Moscow, Madrid and New York are in the running to stage the games with International Olympic Committee delegates making their final decision in Singapore on July 6 next year.
