Danone sell biscuits to United Biscuits fora sweet price

LONDON, July 23 (AFP) - Food and dairy group Danone said Friday it had agreed to sell its British and Irish biscuits units to British group United Biscuits for "a little more" than EUR 360 million (USD 438.3 million).

LONDON, July 23 (AFP) - Food and dairy group Danone said Friday it had agreed to sell its British and Irish biscuits units to British group United Biscuits for "a little more" than EUR 360 million (USD 438.3 million).

"The price of the sale is a little more than EUR 360 million" a Danone spokesman told AFP.

Danone said the units, which produce Jacob's Cream Crackers and Thai Bites, had sales of EUR 266 million in 2003.

The company previously had indicated it was selling the units.

The British unit, Jacob's, is a leading biscuit maker in Britain, leading the market in salted products.

Irish Biscuits is the market leader in Ireland.
