CAIX, France, Aug 10 (AFP) - Denmark's Queen Margrethe II joined her husband, Prince Consort Henrik, in their property in southwestern France Tuesday for a 10-day vacation before flying on to Athens to watch the Olympic Games.

The queen, wearing a black-and-white skirt and a pink t-shirt, told journalists in the garden of their chateau in Caix that her son, Prince Frederik, who married Australian commoner Mary Donaldson in May, would not be joining them this time for the traditional summer getaway.

"After their extraordinary wedding, they need time to relax," she said.   She added that her new daughter-in-law was not pregnant.

The heavily tanned prince consort - who was born in France as Henri de Laborde de Monpezat - said that "in any case, it's for the young couple to announce that" when it comes.
