PARIS, July 28, 2006 (AFP) - A homeless man suspected of raping 17 women in Paris in a string of violent assaults since 1994 was arrested on Wednesday in a train station in the French capital, a police source told AFP on Friday.

The 46-year-old man, who was identified from DNA found on three victims, is suspected of terrorising a series of women who he attacked at home and then robbed.

After being arrested at the Gare de Lyon train station, he was identified using the French national DNA database, the source said.
