Astana rider Valentin Iglinksy has been charged with speeding and drunk driving after being clocked travelling at 203 km/hour on Tuesday night, according to the French police.

The 27-year-old, who was driving his brother Maxim's Volkswagen Golf, was 93 km/hour above the speed limit and then failed a breathalyser test.

He was ordered to pay a 1,900 euros fine and had his licence temporarily revoked pending further legal decisions.

Valentin did not take part in this year's Tour de France. His brother Maxim came 105th in the general classification and ninth in the race to be the King of the Mountains.
