VALENCIENNES, France, Jan 12 (AFP) - A workman on a building site in the northern French city of Valenciennes was killed Wednesday when an unmanned crane collapsed, officials said.

Five other workers were hurt, three seriously, said Vincent Bouvier, the government's second most senior representative in the region.

He said an investigation would be carried out, but added that wind did not appear to be a factor.
