French police issue king cobra warning in Loire valley village near Tours.

Tours – French police were on the lookout Wednesday for a king cobra spotted near a village in the Loire valley, a major tourist destination during the summer months.

Police issued a public warning after a person reported the sighting in the countryside near the village of Bueil-en-Touraine, not far from Tours in central France.

Several officers from the wildlife, veterinarian services and police launched a search and residents were advised to avoid walks around the village.

The king cobra is considered one of the most venomous snakes, capable of killing humans with a single bite.
