PARIS, Jan 21 (AFP) - The French fashion group Christian Dior said Friday it had made EUR 13.208 billion (USD 17.112 billion) in sales last year, an increase of 5.95 percent from 2003.

PARIS, Jan 21 (AFP) - The French fashion group Christian Dior said Friday it had made EUR 13.208 billion (USD 17.112 billion) in sales last year, an increase of 5.95 percent from 2003.

Dior, a holding group controlling the giant LVMH luxury products group and the Dior fashion label, said that sales by Christian Dior Couture had risen by 13.77 percent to EUR 595 million and provisional operating profit by 25 percent to EUR 50 million.

The fourth quarter of 2004 "confirmed the very strong sales increase at Christian Dior Couture in all geographic zones, particularly in Asia and the United States", the group said without giving a breakdown of the figures.

On Thursday, the main LVMH group had posted a six-percent increase in 2004 sales at EUR 12.631 billion and said operating profit would rise by "around 10 percent for the year".
