PARIS, Oct 12, 2006 (AFP) - The cooperative French savings bank Caisse d'Epargne will offer clients the possibility of transferring money by SMS, it announced Thursday.

PARIS, Oct 12, 2006 (AFP) - The cooperative French savings bank Caisse d'Epargne will offer clients the possibility of transferring money by SMS, it announced Thursday.

Only account holders with credit cards issued by the bank will be able to issue payment orders, but beneficiaries may hold accounts at any French bank.

The service is to cost EUR six per year plus 0.50 centimes per transfer on top of the cost of the SMS.

A cap of EUR 1,500 per year and EUR 150 per transfer would be also established, the bank said.

The service is to be extended later to non-clients, it added.
