Police have been searching for British businessman Ian Griffin since the body of his girlfriend was found in the five-star French hotel.

London – A British businessman being hunted after his girlfriend was murdered at a five-star Paris hotel was spotted at a marina where they kept a speedboat, a witness said Sunday.

Police have been looking for Ian Griffin since the body of his Polish-born French girlfriend Kinga Legg, 36, was found Tuesday at the exclusive Hotel Bristol, a favourite of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

His Porsche 911 car has been found in his hometown of Warrington, northwest England and the local police have urged him to come forward.

Meanwhile, it emerged he was spotted at a marina in Surrey, southern England, where the couple keep a speedboat, the day after the killing.

"It was between midday and 2pm when one of my colleagues said: 'Look, there's Ian,'" said marina administrator Billy Leisengang.

"I looked up and he was getting into a taxi which then drove away. Later, when I heard about what happened in Paris, it was a great shock."

Griffin, 39, built up businesses including tanning salons, while his girlfriend ran a company which supplied tomatoes to British supermarkets.
