VALENCE, France, May 31, 2007 (AFP) - A British motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a truck in southeastern France after taking a sharp bend on the wrong side of the road, police said Thursday.

The 40-year-old man from Rissington in Gloucestershire, in the west of England, was killed instantly in the crash, which took place late Wednesday between the towns of Die and Gap.

According to police, he had taken a series of turns on the left-hand side of the road -- which is illegal in France -- when he found himself face-to-face with the truck.
