Braun recalls two hairdryer lines in 60 countries
German small electric goods maker Braun said on Wednesday it was recalling a two hairdryer lines in about 60 countries because of a risk that they could catch fire.
The company said that the recall targeted Braun Satin Pro and Braun Satin Hair Colour hairdryers produced between April 2007 and November 2008.
"This recall is being initiated because a small number of these hairdryers have failed to meet Braun's quality standards and present a safety risk if not used according to the usage instructions," the company said in a statement.
"In particular, there is a small risk that the affected hairdryer may short-circuit, over-heat and start burning if left plugged in, in a very humid environment, even when switched off," it added.
A spokeswoman said that the some 60 countries affected by the recall that most were in Europe.
The recalled hairdryers have the product type number 3549 on the handle and production codes running from 701 to 852 on the inlet grid which can be found after removing the protection filter, Braun said.
