Bouygues reports stable sales

French diversified conglomerate Bouygues, active in construction, real estate, media and telecommunications, on Tuesday reported stable sales of 8.4 billion euros (11.6 billion dollars) in the third quarter.

The company attributed the performance to a rebound in its road building unit Colas that compensated for a decline in real estate revenues.

Sales at Colas, the company's main unit, rose 6.0 percent to 3.8 billion euros while the real estate division saw a 37 percent decline in sales to 456 million euros.

Bouygues said the slide reflected the completion of major office building projects and a fall in reservations for housing completed in 2008.

In the first nine months of the year sales at Bouygues were stable at 23.1 billion euros.
