Bosnia busts illegal immigration ring: prosecutors
Bosnian authorities on Tuesday arrested 10 suspects in an operation targeting an illegal immigration ring accused of transporting people to France and Switzerland, prosecutors said.
They are accused of "illegal organised trafficking of immigrants -- nationals of Bosnia-Hercegovina -- to France and Switzerland," said prosecutors' spokesman Boris Grubesic.
The ring in operation since last year allegedly charged 1,500 euros (1,900 dollars) per person. The number of illegal immigrants transported remains to be determined, but authorities suspect at least 40.
Bosnia is located along the so-called Balkans route for arms, drugs and people trafficking toward Western Europe.
