Bombardier announces $628 million order for 10 new jets
Canadian planemaker Bombardier said Friday that it had received an order for 10 of its new generation CS100 regional jets from an un-named client for an estimated $628 million (440 million euros).
"This brings to eight the number of customers committed to the CSeries aircraft programme," said Gary Scott, chairman of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft at the Paris International Air Show.
"This order tops off a very successful Paris Air Show and a strong wave of order activity in June, when we added five new customers," he said in a statement which described the customer as a first time Bombardier buyer.
The CS100 is one of Bombardier's new series of fuel-efficient regional jets designed for the single-aisle 100 to 149-seat market.
It is still on the drawing board but the Canadian manufacturer has 123 confirmed orders and airlines have taken options or signed letters of intent on 139 more. It expects to deliver the first planes in 2013.
