PARIS - Several thousand people were evacuated from the French finance ministry in Paris on Tuesday following a bomb scare, ministry officials and police said.

The ministry said it received an anonymous telephone call warning that an explosion would occur at 10:00 am (0800 GMT).

The building's 4,000 occupants were immediately evacuated, but a search by bomb disposal experts uncovered no explosives. Workers were allowed to return to their desks at around 11:20 am.
