BNP Paribas reports 24.9-percent profits surge

PARIS, Feb 15, 2007 (AFP) - BNP Paribas reported on Thursday a 24.9-percent rise in net profits for 2006 driven by foreign expansion.

PARIS, Feb 15, 2007 (AFP) - BNP Paribas reported on Thursday a 24.9-percent rise in net profits for 2006 driven by foreign expansion.

Net profit for the year was 7.308 billion euros (9.573 billion dollars), a rise of 24.9 percent. BNP Paribas acquired the Italian group BNL in 2006.

The price of shares in the group fell by 2.82 percent to 84.55 euros (110.76 dollars) on the news.
