PARIS, May 15 (AFP) - Two armed men held up a Paris supermarket then slipped through a police cordon and escaped leaving staff unharmed, police said.

About a dozen employees were in the store when the gunmen entered shortly after opening time. The robbers forced one of them to open the safe and the others escaped, they said. The first staff member later called from a mobile phone to say he too was safe.

Police sealed off the area but a search of the supermarket revealed that the gunmen had got away, they added. It was unclear whether they took the money with them.
