French industrial group Alstom said on Tuesday it had received an order worth 325 million euros ($466 million dollars) for 56 trains from Deutsche Bahn's regional rail subsidiary.

It said the 56 new Cordia Lint trains would go into service in December 2013 in the greater Cologne region and western Eifel area where DB Regio AG won a tender to provide mass transit and regional passenger train services.

The Coradia Lint trains are two and three-car diesel units capable of seating 180 to 300 passengers and can reach top speeds of 140 kilometers (87 miles) per hour.
