French telecoms equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent said on Tuesday its first-half losses had doubled this year as earnings were hit by restructuring charges and falling asset values.

But the price of its shares jumped by 9.0 percent in initial trading.

The company said it lost 885 million euros ($1.17 billion) in the six months to June, compared to a deficit of 396 million euros for the same period in 2012.

First half revenues rose 1.9 percent to 3.6 billion euros.
