PARIS, Aug 14, 2006 (AFP) - Air France cancelled four of its 12 flights to London Monday to help British authorities deal with congestion at Heathrow airport caused by increased security following the discovery of an alleged terror plot.

The cancellations were made "at the demand of British authorities, to ease traffic at Heathrow," an airline spokeswoman said.

Delays were also occurring on flights bound for the United States from Paris, Air France said, but added they had been reduced to an average of one hour from the two to three hours experienced in past days.

The airline was asking passengers going to US destinations to arrive at airports three hours before their flights and to ensure they were carrying no liquids or gels in their cabin baggage.
