Air France heads to shed 4,400 jobs: report
Air France intends to cut its workforce by nearly 4,400 people by March 2013 by means of voluntary departures, the newspaper La Tribune reported on Thursday citing a works committee report.
The reduction would represent a cutback of 16.3 percent from the number employed in March 2008 before the global economic downturn began to bite, leaving the airline with 47,694 employees.
Air France intends to shed 2,436 people in the 12 months to March 2011, 834 in 2011-2012 and 1,121 in 2012-2013, the report said.
