Afghanistan congratulates France after journalists freed
Afghanistan on Wednesday congratulated France after the release of two French journalists kidnapped in 2009, a spokesman for President Hamid Karzai told AFP.
"We congratulate the journalists themselves as well as the French government and the French nation," said spokesman Siamak Heravi. "This is an achievement... we welcome their release."
Stephane Taponier and Herve Ghesquiere have been released along with their interpreter Reza Din, French President Nicolas Sarkozy's office said Wednesday.
Prime Minister Francois Fillon added that they were in "good health" and would be home within "a few hours."
