Russian airline Aeroflot signed a deal Tuesday for eight Boeing long-haul 777-300ER aircraft, on the second day of the Paris International Airshow, Boeing said.

US aerospace giant Boeing said the order would be worth $2.2 billion (1.53 billion euros) at list prices -- although airlines are usually able to negotiate discounts.

Aeroflot ordered eight 777 planes in March in a deal which included an option for eight more.

The former Soviet flag-carrier is spreading its wings and has joined the SkyTeam airline alliance, with its focus being on the Winter Olympics in 2014 and the Soccer World Cup hosted by Russia in 2018.
