AFP videos confiscated in Cairo after embassy attack
An Agence France-Presse videographer in Cairo said she was forced Saturday to hand over tapes of interviews conducted near the Israeli embassy following an overnight attack on the mission.
Dalia Hassan, who holds dual French-Egyptian nationality, said she was first shoved around by men in civilian clothes, who showed no identification and tried to take her camera, until she showed them her business card.
Minutes later, she was surrounded by about 50 people, who threatened her and demanded she hand over the tapes.
The tapes contained interviews with young people who claimed they were targeted with live ammunition during an attack on the embassy late Friday and early Saturday.
Three people were killed in clashes between police and protesters, hospital sources said, and the health ministry said one person died of a heart attack.
The AFP's Cairo bureau has contacted Egyptian authorities, who have expressed their outrage at the incident and promised to investigate.
