GRENOBLE, France, Jan 8 (AFP) - Eleven British tourists were slightly injured Saturday when their coach crashed into a house in the French Alps after the driver was suddenly taken ill, firefighters and police said.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the accident.

The 12 were rushed to a hospital in the city of Grenoble but at least four people were dismissed in the late afternoon.

Investigators said the driver tried to stop the vehicle when he suddenly felt faint but he was unable to avoid the building.

No one was hurt inside the house.

The coach was carrying 20 British tourists from the ski resort of Alpe d'Huez to Saint-Etienne de Saint-Geoirs airport northwest of Grenoble.

Tourists who were unhurt were later taken to the airport.
