03/05/2011Editor's Guide: Expat Voices in France

Editor's Guide: Expat Voices in France Read this brief guide to learn more about our Expat Voices section and share your thoughts on life in France by filling out a questionnaire.

Our Expat Voices series gives the international community a chance to share their perspectives on life in Spain. We now have four different Expat Voices questionnaires catered to artists, writers, entrepreneurs, and expats with opinion in general. Want to be published? Fill one out!

Expat Voices

Our original Expat Voices questionnaire invites you to share your initial experience of living in France. We ask about shopping, food, language, culture and what you like most and least about living in France. See what British expat Howard Hulley lists as the many reasons why a life in France shines bright compare to what his homeland has to offer. Real estate conniseur April Milliken shares important tidbits on surviving long term in French culture, from visas to the importance of integrating.

Read about American Delorys Welch-Tyson’s frustrations with France's ever-evolving bureaucracy and  find out how Patrick Owen’s quality of life has improved even though his salary has not.

Expat Entrepreneur

Our Expat Entrepreneurs questionnaire invites entrepreneurs in France to share their experiences of setting up and running their businesses abroad. Martin Parker talks about the beauty and companionship of doing business in the Pyrenees, while Certified Alexander Technique teacher Alexis Niki enjoys helping people who feel "disconnected" physically or emotionally with her company since 2003.

The encouragement and tips offered by the entrepreneurs participating in this series makes these interviews an invaluable read for those contemplating starting a business in France. Expat entrepreneur Michelle Goldberger shares how having a good network has made it easy for her business to take off. Another expat entrepreneur in Paris, Heather Jerue, appreciates the French government's efforts to help entrepreneurs start their business, she can't say the same about the high VAT especially when it upsets her international clients.

Expat Artist

How has living abroad influenced your work as an artist? Our Expat Artist questionnaire finds out more about your life as an international artist in France and asks about your creative work, how you experience the local artistic community and the kinds of financial support which are available to artists working in France. Be the first artist to share your thoughts!

Expat Writer

Expat Writer questionnaires are for published journalists and authors (online and print) with established success as a writer in Spain. Writer Janice Barnett is an expat in Burgundy who knows all about yoga and staying healthy in a country filled with temptation.
