Can you give us a brief description of your business and how it is going?
Burgundy Relocation aims to take the stress out of people’s Southern Burgundy property search, by searching out the hidden gems that the area has to offer, selecting the ones that match the search criteria, take the client to visit them, and then negotiate the best price for them. Once the client has bought their home, we offer services that can enable their move and new life in Burgundy to go smoothly.
What do you like about doing business in your country of residence?
I am able to combine my two interests: property and the French way of life.
What do you find most frustrating about doing business in your country of residence?
The tax and “charges” system is quite complicated, but I have set up as an auto entrepreneur, and things seem to be a bit simpler.

How has the economic crisis affected your business?
I have started at the worst time probably so hopefully things can only get better.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs setting up business in your country of residence?
Plan well in advance, as it can take a few months to get everything up and running. Be clear about what you want to do, and give yourself attainable short term goals to reach. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself at the start, most new companies take quite a while to start earning but hopefully we will get there.
How does running a business in your current country of residence compare to running a business in other countries that you have lived in?
This is my first time working for myself so I can’t really comment, but I think the auto entrepreneur scheme is great for new small businesses.
