Luxembourg may be small, but it has more than enough culture, art and nature packed inside its borders. There is plenty to visit in each of its five districts.In the capital, Luxembourg City, there are bridges, chapels and palaces aplenty. Firstly, there is the Luxembourg fortress, which was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 1994. Constitution square holds the war memorial and some magnificent views. You should definitely take a trip through the underground galleries - the casemates - then move on to the Grand-Ducal palace built in Flemish Renaissance style and finally check out the Notre-Dame cathedral.
If it is museums you are looking for, be sure to visit the Luxembourg City History museum, the Casino Luxembourg and the Museum of Modern Art Grand-Duc Jean, to satisfy your curiosities about Luxembourg’s past, contemporary art and architecture. The National Art and History Museum contains art, archaeological discoveries, furniture, coins, weapons and documents that tell a detailed story of the Grand Duchy.
If music is what you crave, there is also the Philharmonie close by which hosts many esteemed musical groups and organises concerts and festivals throughout the year. Its programme covers a range of musical genres, from classical to jazz. There is also the Grand Théâtre which shows operas, musicals and plays in French, German and English.

The Ardennes Vianden (Veianen) - Oesling, north-eastern Luxembourg
The Ardennes is known for nature, sports, and beautiful cliff-side views. Popular spots here are Esch-sur-Sûre, Vianden and Diekirch. Esch-sur-Sûre is a small mountain village full of ruined manor-houses. Many people head for the river Sûre or the national park for leisure or aquatic activities. Vianden is filled with remarkable architecture and religious structures. You can discover the city on foot or from the air, with the famous chairlift that offers a fabulous view from 450 metres high. Diekirch houses the old quarter, where the famed St. Laurentius Church and Roman mosaics can be found. The city live up to its reputation as a beer town with its own beer museum.
Mullerthal is Luxembourg’s ‘little Switzerland’ and has many hiking trails, castle ruins and historic villages. The oldest town is Echternach, famous for its yearly dancing procession. Today, the town still has a medieval atmosphere, with its old house, small streets and ancient fortifications.
The Moselle is home to Mondorf-les-Bains, a small town famous for its spa, Mondorf le Domaine Thermal. The relaxation centre is in a magnificent park, with woodlands, flower borders, grassy lawns and a lot of sculptures. It also has spa installations, massage centres, fitness facilities, swimming pools, saunas and bars. In the same area, tennis matches, fencing, archery and boules are often put on. Grevenmacher, the capital of the region, is an important town full of vineyards, and connects the country with its neighbour; Germany.
The land of red rocks holds the cosmopolitan city of Esch-sur-Alzette. This city is known for its architecture and shopping. Many cultural attractions await visitors such as art galleries, monuments, theatres and fascinating metallurgical factories, and of course, many popular events.
