Where to find a gym and Pilates classes in Paris Want to stay fit but don’t know where to start? Here’s a list of gyms and Pilates classes by Explorer Publishing.

Gyms

Body Gym
157 rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine
11th
01 43 42 42 33
www.bodygymparis.com
This gym in the 11th has a good selection of fitness equipment, and numerous classes are offered in the large fitness room. Activities include body pump, step, stretching classes, Pilates and salsa dancing courses. There’s a juice and snack bar and even a sunbed for when you’re looking a bit pasty.

Club Med Gym
Various Locations
www.clubmedgym.com
Club Med operates 22 gyms in Paris, including 10 with swimming pools. Between them, the gyms offer 50 activities, including body pump, aerobic workouts and dance classes. Yoga and Pilates classes are available, and most clubs also have a sauna. For location details go to the website.

Club Montmartrois
60 rue Ordener
18th
01 42 52 50 50
www.club-montmartrois.fr
Established in 1966, this is definitely one of the oldest gyms in the city, but don’t let the age put you off. You’ll find all the equipment you would expect to see in a modern gym, and a host of classes and activities are offered.

The company also operates two other gyms under the Club M brand, at 50 rue Duhesme in the 18th (01 42 54 49 88) and 87, blvd Vincent Auriol in the 13th(01 45 70 77 36).

You can try out a class for EUR 10 before signing up.

Forest Hill
4 rue Louis Armand
15th
Balard
01 40 60 10 00
www.forest-hill.com
Forest Hill, along with its sister-water park, Aquaboulevard, is almost an institution in Paris. You can take dance classes, play table tennis, indoor and outdoor tennis, squash, racquetball, badminton, lift weights, take aerobics and cardio training classes, swim and relax in a hamman, sauna, Jacuzzi and solarium.

There’s also a hotel connected with this centre as families come from miles around. This isn’t your neighbourhood gym, but other than charm, it is lacking in nothing.

L'Usine
8 rue de la
 Michodière
2nd
Opéra
01 42 66 30 30
www.usineopera.com
If you’re one of those types who go to the gym to see and be seen, than L’Usine Opera is the number one place for you.

Celebrities pump weights, cycle, row, run on the treadmill, get private coaching, take lessons in yoga, Pilates, boxing and anything cardio that burns calories for the waiting paparazzi. And you too can run with the celebs.

To become a member, you have to pay nearly EUR 1,500 . It’s not a small sum but to be fair, you are paying for the very best in state-of-the-art equipment, so get your trainers on.

Various Locations
01 42 77 21 71
 www.vithalles.fr
These eight flashy gyms across Paris boast everything you would expect and more, including Les Mills classes, a spa, weight rooms and personal training.  Vit'Halles offers a day pass for EUR 20 or various memberships, and is particularly popular with expats looking to get buff while indulging in the favourite Parisian pastime of people watching.
