Socialist commissioned for globalisation report 03/07/2007 00:00
PARIS, July 3, 2007 (AFP) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy has commissioned former socialist foreign minister Hubert Vedrine to draw up a report on globalisation, Vedrine said Tuesday.
Vedrine, who was foreign minister from 1997 to 2002, has been asked to produce "concrete proposals" about how to promote French and European interests "in this new globalised world".
Sarkozy, who took office in May, has appointed a number of socialist politicians to his government, including Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and European Affairs Minister Jean-Pierre Jouyet.
