French plane evacuated in bomb scare 01/02/2007 00:00

LYON, France, Feb 1, 2007 (AFP) - A French aircraft linking Paris and Rome was forced to make an emergency landing in the eastern French city of Lyon on Thursday following a bomb scare, officials said.

The Air France Airbus A320 landed at Lyon Saint-Exupery airport at 1030 GMT and its 133 passengers and crew were evacuated, after airport officials in Rome received an alert concerning the aircraft.

French officials had earlier indicated that the plane was Italian-operated.

Bomb disposal experts searched the aircraft but found nothing unusual in either the plane or luggage, according to authorities in Lyon.

Air France was to provide a replacement flight to Rome later in the afternoon, it said.
