Barca blew another chance 14/04/2008 00:00
The club draw 2-2 at Recreativo with Real pulling nine points ahead.
14 April 2008
MADRID - After tying 2-2 at Recreativo, Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard summarised the mini-crisis of missed opportunities the Catalan team has suffered the past month: "I feel like we let two points get away."
Two Eto'o goals - the second a bullet sent high into the net from outside the area - couldn't stave off relegation-threatened Recre, which was also lucked out when the referee signalled its first goal even though Víctor Valdés probably trapped Marcos Rubén's header on the goal line.
At nine points behind Real Madrid, which beat Murcia 1-0, with six games left in the Liga race, not even Barca's own players seem to believe the catchphrase spewing from the locker room after the loss - "Mathematically, it's still possible" - and seem to prefer to concentrate on its Champions League semi-final.
Following last week's handkerchief fury at Camp Nou, it was Mestalla's turn to be disgusted as Valencia fell 1-2 to Racing and could "mathematically" still face relegation.
Other results: Valladolid 1-1 At. Madrid; Betis 0-1 Levante; Getafe 0-0 Zaragoza; Espanyol 0-1 Osasuna; Deportivo 3-0 Athletic; Mallorca 2-3 Sevilla.
