MADRID - Spanish Liga club Zaragoza announced on Tuesday the death of 1960s star Eleuterio Santos.

Santos died at the age of 67 on Monday night in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, due to liver cancer.

He played for Zaragoza from 1963 to 1973, after helping Tenerife to promotion in 1961.

Santos, an elegant and precise inside-right, scored 96 goals for Zaragoza and helped them to win the Spanish cup in 1964 and 1966, as well as the European Cup Winners Cup in 1966.

He played just once for the Spanish national team, in a 1-1 draw away to Sweden in 1968.

There will be a minute's silence in memory of Santos before Sunday's Zaragoza-Athletic Bilbao clash, in which the Zaragoza players will wear black armbands.
