BARCELONA - A British woman who was hit and injured by a police motorcycle in the Spanish city of Barcelona has been requested to compensate financially for the damage done to the motorcycle, the daily El Mundo said Monday in its internet edition.

Katerina Ann Bilek was crossing the street when she was hit by the speeding motorcycle, which had illegally entered a bus lane, in 2006.

Bilek sustained moderate injuries, but did not take legal action over the accident.

The Barcelona city council has now sent her a bill of about EUR 600 for damage done to the motorcycle.

The case followed that of a driver who hit and killed a young man and then demanded that the parents of the victim pay for the damage done to his car. The case prompted such a scandal that the driver withdrew his request.
