MALAGA — Two swimmers were drowned off a beach in Malaga Friday, authorities said.
A man, aged 47, and a woman, who has not been identified, ignored the red flag warning of hazardous conditions for swimming and took to the water.
Despite attempts to save them, both drowned after struggling in the water.
A police officer went into the water to try to rescue them both but was unable to save either of them.
The tragedy happened at Playa de la Misericordia de Málaga, according to the local government spokesman.
