18 August 2006, MADRID — Two police officers were arrested on Friday for stealing 20 kilogrammes of cocaine which had been seized earlier by the authorities.

MADRID — Two police officers were arrested on Friday for stealing 20 kilogrammes of cocaine which had been seized earlier by the authorities.

Police said the drug had been stored in a lorry in a police station but it went missing last month.

It was originally seized as part of a major operation against drug trafficking in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

In total 513 kg of the drug were discovered and six people were arrested.

Detectives investigating the disappearance of 20kg of the drug, arrested one officer in Alcorcón, near Madrid, along with his wife and another woman.

Another police officer from Valencia, was detained in Lugo. He was arrested with a woman.

Altogether, 17kg of cocaine were found by officers.
