Two Britons arrested for EUR 4m bank fraud

18 March 2005, MADRID-Spanish police have arrested two Britons and a German in the Costa del Sol resort of Marbella on suspicion of a EUR 4 million bank fraud, interior ministry sources said.

MADRID-Spanish police have arrested two Britons and a German in the Costa del Sol resort of Marbella on suspicion of a EUR 4 million bank fraud, interior ministry sources said.

The ministry said the two Britons, in their mid-30s, were suspected of defrauding an Asian airline and a Middle Eastern company via transactions at London- and Marbella-based banks to the tune of  EUR 4.4m.

In a separate operation, police announced the arrest in Marbella of a 65-year-old German national named only as Herbert Heinrich Bernhard E., who was the subject of a German arrest warrant.
