The incidents started after 11.30pm Sunday when a crowd of at least 150 fans, mostly Barcelona supporters,  took to the streets in the Catalan capital.

One fight happened in a restaurant when fans threw cans, bottles and other missiles at rival supporters.

Four police officers were injured trying to quell the trouble.

Police said a group of about 400 people broke windows, vandalised telephone boxes vandalised and emptied four rubbish bins in Las Ramblas, one of Barcelona's main streets.

A police car was also damaged. At another restaurant, the blinds were smashed and  diners could not escape the trouble.
