CIUDAD REAL-A triple killer who murdered a couple and a woman in the same area has been jailed for 103 years.
Gustavo Romero Tercero admitted killing Angel Ibanez and Sara Dotor in 1993.
Five years later, he returned to the scene of his crime to kill Rosana Maroto.
Romero was married with one young child and had been expecting a second when he committed his first murder while out on his bike in Valdepenas, near Ciudad Real, in Castilla La Mancha in 1993.
He threatened Angel and Sara with a knife and made them to come with him towards a deserted train line.
Tercero then forced them to hand over cash.
When they thought their ordeal was over, Tercero stabbed Angel to death so that he was free to sexually abuse his girlfriend Sara.
Alter sexually abusing Sara, he stabbed the terrified girl to death.
Tercero was said to have an "anti-social" personality, but was not mentally disturbed and understood what he was doing, a court heard.
He was jailed for 25 years for the first killings, but was allowed his prison visit five years later in 1998.
Tercero returned to the same small town, Valdepenas, where he had kept in touch with the families of his first victims.
He had been ordered to pay compensation of EUR 360,000 to the relatives of the couple he had killed.
But it was while on a prison visit back to Valdepenas, that he murdered 21-year-old Rosana Maroto.
She had been out on her bike when she was attacked, sexually abused, then strangled.
Her body was not discovered until October 2003, more than five years later.
