MADRID - An investigation was underway on Monday after three babies died at a hospital and 25 were suspected to have caught a deadly infection.

Three premature babies died at the 12 de Octubre Hospital of an infection caused by the bacteria klebsiella pneumoniae.

Another premature infant was in a serious condition.

Twenty-five were placed in isolation to prevent the spread of the infection.

Premature babies are especially vulnerable to infections because their respiratory systems are not completely developed.
