HENDAYA - Three people were arrested on Tuesday in connection with their alleged membership of the Basque terrorist organisation ETA, police said.
The arrests took place in Hendaya in France, on the border with northwest Spain.
The operation was the work of anti-terrorist officers from both France and Spain.
The three suspects are Ignacio Telletxea Goñi, Marcos Sagarzazu Oyarzábal and Francisco Javier Irastorza Dorronsoro.
They are all alleged members of the so-called 'Commando Ibarla', which was formed in 1994.
Telletxea, 33, was arrested in 2001 after trying to elude a police check point in France.
He was released from prison in 2005 after completing a five year sentence in France for association with terrorists.
He was banned from living in France.
Irastorza Dorronsoro and Sagarzazu Oyarzábal were involved with the same ETA cell in 2001 in Spain.
They were both arrested in San Juan de Luz in 2002, but later released.
They are accused of killing the police officer Eduardo López Moreno in 1995 and another officer, Ramón Doral Trabalero in 1996.
