MADRID - Around 50 left-wing students attempted to stop Rosa Díez, a former Socialist Party member turned leader of the new Union for Progress and Democracy party (UPyD), from speaking at Madrid's Complutense University on Tuesday, in the third such protest in two weeks.

The incident occurred as tensions continue to flare on campuses across Spain ahead of the general election due to be held on 9 March.
