MADRID — Spain was about to experience an unseasonable chill as a cold front from Greenland moved as far south as Andalucia, forecasters said on Thursday.

Storms from the northern Cantabrian coast will move across most of the country bringing heavy rains.

The regions which were expected to be worst hit were Andalucia, Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha.

Parts of the south-east, towards the Costa Blanca and Valencia, may also be hit by the bad weather.

Angel Rivera, of the National Meteorological Institute, said the cold spell should lift by Friday.

The storm, which has moved south from Greenland, brought heavy rain to Pontevedra,  Vigo and other parts of Galicia.
