Televisa to acquire 14.5 percent of Spain's Imagina
Mexican media giant Televisa has agreed to acquire 14.5 percent of Imagina, the main content and services provider for Spain's media and entertainment industry, a statement said Wednesday.
Televisa said it would swap its 40.8 percent stake in La Sexta, a Spanish TV broadcaster, for 14.5 percent of Imagina, with no monetary exchange.
The deal would also grant Televisa -- the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world -- transmission rights for sport events in certain territories and the right to name two directors of Imagina's 12-member board.
Imagina sells the rights of the Spanish Soccer League worldwide and is involved in production, post production, technical and advisory services, operating in nine countries including Spain.
