OVIEDO — A boy of 12 was killed and eight others were injured when a school bus collided with a lorry.
After the head-on crash, the bus careered off the road and fell eight metres down a steep slope in a mountainous area.
Five boys and three adults were seriously hurt in the crash in Morcin, Asturias, northern Spain.
Seven were taken to hospital. Two of these were seriously injured.
A 14-year-old girl is expected to undergo plastic surgery to restore her left arm.
The boy who was killed had suffered multiple injuries and died soon after being admitted to hospital.
The 32-year-old lorry driver suffered slight injuries.
The accident happened at about 7.55am as the bus was taking the children to school.
In April, two schoolboys and two teachers were killed when a bus carrying scouts back from a trip collided with a security barrier.
