MADRID –A Syrian terrorist suspect who was arrested in connection with the investigation into the Madrid massacre was released Thursday.
Judge Juan del Olmo, who is leading the investigation, released Safwan Sabagh on strict conditions.
Sabagh, who was released last Friday in Valencia, must report to police each week and had to surrender his passport.
In a separate development, del Olmo again questioned another suspect, who was arrested in March in connection with supplying explosives to the terrorists.
Rafa Zouhier, who was a police informer for the police in Asturias in northern Spain, has claimed that the warned police about the sale of stolen explosives before the 11 March attacks.
Police have denied he warned them of an impending attack or the sale of the explosives.
Ten bombs which went off on four commuter trains in Madrid killed 191 people and left more than 1,500 people injured.
A series of suspects, most of whom are Moroccan, have been arrested in connection with the attack by Islamic extremists linked to al-Qaeda.
