KABUL — Spanish troops in Afghanistan came under fire on Monday in the south of the country.

When a Spanish convoy, made up of eight armour-plated vehicles, was passing through the southern area of Farah, an explosion went off.

The Spanish defence ministry said there were no injuries in the attack which happened at about 7.35am local time.

The explosion happened between the penultimate and the ultimate vehicle – a distance of 100 metres.

Meanwhile, a suicide bomber killed four Canadian troops in another attack on Nato troops in Kandahar, also in the south of the country, on Monday.

Thirty-five civilians were also said to have been injured in the bomb attack on a convoy.
