NICOSIA, Cyprus - Cypriot authorities quarantined a Spanish trawler in port after one crewman was found dead and another in a comatose state off the island's coast on Wednesday, police said.

Hospital officials in the southern port of Larnaca told state radio they suspected food poisoning but an autopsy would establish the precise cause of death for Spanish national Jose Uros Gianer, 38.

A second Spanish crewman, Manuel Antonio Cuadrado, 53, was hospitalized in a coma, doctors said.

The Jose y Rafaella trawler, with a crew of six, was 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Larnaca when the incident occurred, Cypriot officials said.
