MADRID — More than half of Spanish women (55 percent) and one in four men have only had one sexual partner in their lives, according to a survey , 'Health and Sexual Habits', published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The report, based on people aged between 18 and 49, also shows that 21 percent of men say they have had 10 or more sexual partners compared with just 4 percent of women.

Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Andalucía are the three regions where most people have had no more than one partner.

At the other extreme are the Balearic Islands, which topped the national tables for promiscuity among both men and women.

Thirty-nine percent of men from the islands said they had had 10 or more partners, and 8 percent of women.

The next most sexually experienced were men from Aragon at 29 percent, and women those from Madrid at 7 percent.
